How will age be verified?
Ahead of this summer’s Gothia Cup, we are changing the format of the mandatory age control, Previously conducted in person, it will now be replaced by a digital player registration.
How the digital player registration works:
Each team leader is responsible for registering all players on the team’s participant list under the “Players” section in the team’s Gothia Account. The following information must be provided for each player:
- Full name (First and last name)
- Full date of birth (eight digits)
- A clear photo of the player (does not need to be a passport photo)
Photo requirements:
- The photo is uploaded directly to the team’s Gothia Account.
- The photo must be recent and of high quality.
- The player’s entire face must be clearly visible.
- The photo should show the player from the chest up.
Photos can conveniently be taken with a mobile phone and uploaded directly to the Gothia Account. Once all players have been registered with the above information, the mandatory age verification is complete.
The registration can be done well in advance but must be fully completed no later than one week before the tournament starts, i.e. by July 7, 2025.
Note: All players must still carry a valid ID throughout the tournament week.
Age and Spot Checks During Gothia Cup:
During the tournament week, the Gothia Cup Competition Committee will conduct random spot checks in connection with matches. A tournament official will ask the team to line up for a quick team photo before the match. All players listed on the match team list must be present in the photo, which will then be compared to the team’s digital player list.
Each team is required to submit a printed match team list before every game and must cooperate during spot checks.
If a team refuses to participate in the photo check or does not cooperate, disciplinary action will be taken by the Competition Committee.
ID Verification:
The Competition Committee may request additional identity checks during the tournament week, for example at the team’s accommodation. All players must then be able to present a valid form of ID.
Valid identification
We accept the following identifications:
- Valid passport
For players from countries that do not need a passport to travel to Sweden we do accept the following identifications:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- National ID cards
Each ID must have a photo of the holder. ID documents which expired after June 30th 2024 are also considered to be valid. Please note, a copy of the passport or ID document is not accepted.
Important considerations
All teams have to complete the participants list digitally at Gothia Account.
All players that will participate in the tournament MUST be included on the list of participants before the tournament starts. You may NOT complete the list with new names during the tournament week.
